SCOTS travelers are being given one last chance to sail on Scotland’s only direct ferry to Europe – before the route closes this year.
DFDS Norfolkline is encouraging people to take them up on their cut-price deals to sail on the Scottish Viking, which takes passengers from Rosyth, Fife, to Zeebrugge in Belgium.
By mid-December the route will no longer be operating, but customers can hop aboard until then for just £35 a person with a car.
The service – which can be taken overnight – can also be combined with other deals, such as a ferry trip and weekend break in Bruges saving each person £50.
Chris Newey, DFDS Norfolkline’s general manger for passenger services for Scotland-Belgium and the English Channel, said: “Although the decision to stop the passenger service has been a disappointment, the route is very much operating as normal until mid December.
“So we wanted to ensure that people seize the opportunity to secure one of the last chances to sail on the Scottish Viking by offering them a range of discount fares and deals.
“We think these deals are exceptional and will be snapped up very quickly – particularly by those people who have always fancied the idea of ferry trip from Scotland to Belgium or others planning a late season break or visit to the continent.
“We also hope this expected surge in bookings on the route will provide a welcome boost to Rosyth and the wider Fife economy over the remaining months before the route stops.”
DFDS Norfolkline has been operating the Rosyth-Zeebrugge service since May 2009, and the Scottish Viking sails three times a week from both ports.
It has a range of onboard facilities including a restaurant, bar, cinema and children’s play area.
Earlier this year, DFDS Norfolkline announced the route would no longer operate as a combined passenger and freight service – from mid-December it will operate solely as a freight-only route.
