Detectives hunt for Dalkeith child sex attacker

DETECTIVES are hunting a stubble chinned man who indecently assaulted two schoolgirls on Monday night.

Lothian and Borders Police said the two friends, aged 11 and 12, were walking along Eskdaill Street towards Buccleuch Street in Dalkeith just before 8pm when they were approached by the man.

He started talking to them before launching his sick assault which left both girls traumatised but otherwise unhurt.

A police spokesman said: “While the two girls weren’t injured they were left understandably distressed as a result of their ordeal.

“We are appealing for any information that can help us trace the suspect.”

The man, described as, white, forty years old, almost six foot tall, of average build with light or white hair and stubble was reported to have left in the direction of South Street after the alleged attack.

He was wearing a distinctive red rain jacket, with black shoulders, dark joggers, dark shoes and had a graze on the right side of his face.

Police said there were a number of people in the area at the time of the assault and wanted like to hear from anyone who saw what happened, saw the suspect or recognises the description.
