Big surprise ahead for Dunfermline Live!

Organisers of Dunfermline Live! have announced their special guest stars for the week’s finale on Sunday November 21 – Big Country star Bruce Watson and son Jamie.

They will play live on the main stage at the Carnegie Gates from 5.15pm to 5.45 pm, leading up to ‘Santa’ switching on the Christmas Lights.

Bruce and Jamie will perform acoustic material from their new album “Another Anthem for the Damned” which they recorded for record label, Track Records (Home of Jimi Hendrix and The Who).

The duo are currently touring Scotland and will be back playing a Big Country gig in the Alhambra on January 2.

Bruce said: “I’m delighted that Jamie and I can be part of the Dunfermline Live! celebrations and perform some of our latest material.  Jamie’s first professional gig with me was here in the Glen Pavilion for the Skids 30th anniversary celebration and then a finale at T in the Park so Dunfermline is a special place for us.

“But I must say I’ve opened for many acts in my time from Bob Dylan to the Rolling Stones, but never for the  big man in the red suit.”

Susan Hughes, Chief Executive of Dunfermline Delivers which organises all the events in Dunfermline city centre, is thrilled that Bruce and Jamie have agreed to perform.

She said: “This is really exciting news and will be sure to have the whole place rocking as we switch on the Christmas lights. I can’t think of a better addition to the Dunfermline Live! programme than to have a local hero like Bruce, known all over the world, come with his son, Jamie, to help us get the festive season started.

“We can’t thank him enough.”
