To mark International Women’s Day (March 8th) Sergeant Sarah Smith a member of the Royal Artillery fired the One O’Clock Gun at Edinburgh Castle.
International Women’s Day is a global celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women.
Sgt Smith, 26 from Blyth, Northumberland, served in Afghanistan from April to September 2010 and wanted to highlight the vital roll women play in the Armed Forces.
