Burglars steal jewellery and car keys from house in Edinburgh

By Julie Diamond

JEWELLERY and car keys were stolen from a house shortly after two men were seen “acting suspiciously”.

The house, on Biggar Road in Edinburgh, was broken into sometime between 7am and 7pm on Thursday.

The two men were seen hanging around outside between 12pm and 1pm.

Police are appealing for a van driver who stopped near the property to get in touch as he may have noticed the suspects.

The driver was in a well-maintained black Ford transit van, with alloy wheels and red livery on the side.

Both men are described as being white, in their early to mid 40s, with short dark hair and dark clothing.

A police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time, and who may have seen these men who were acting suspiciously, to get in touch.

“We are particularly keen to hear from the van driver, as we believe they may have seen the suspects involved.”

Anyone with information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or the charity Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
