Driver killed in M8 crash

A LORRY driver has been killed after careering across a motorway and hitting a car head on.

The M8 motorway was closed in both directions after the accident, which happened at around 6.10am today (Tues).

It’s believed that the lorry crossed the central reservation and struck a bridge.

A green Nissan Micra travelling in the opposite direction struck debris from the collision with the central reservation barrier.

The ambulance service confirmed that a man, believed to be the lorry driver, had died in the incident.

A woman was taken to Monklands Hospital, believed to be suffering from shock.
