A MAN has been charged with fraud after cutting the grass in Susan Boyle’s garden.
Lothian and Borders Police confirmed that they were called to the star’s ex-council house home in the Blackburn, West Lothian, and arrested a 21-year-old man. Boyle has claimed that the man tried to cheat her by charging a
“grossly excessive’ amount for the work. The man, who was arrested on Friday, has been charged with fraud and released on bail on condition he keeps away from the singer and out of her street. He will appear at Livingston Sheriff Court at a later date.
The man told a newspaper the incident started when he was passing her home and got chatting to the star.
He claimed:
“She told me the garden was like a jungle and asked me if I’d cut her grass.
“I said I would but there was no mention of money at all.
“I cut her grass, did her strimming and cut her hedge but I never charged her anything, I did it as a favour. I was shocked when I was arrested. “
A spokesman for Boyle declined to comment.
Last year, Boyle was reported to be worth just under 20m. It is not the first time the singer has called police to her home. In June, a teenager was fined 70 after he attempted to steal 9 from her house.
