Police are warning about water on the roads

MOTORISTS are being urged to drive with caution as roads throughout the force area, in particular the motorways, have excess surface water on them.
Chief Inspector Donald McMillan, head of the Road Policing Unit, said: “Motorists should be aware of the road conditions and drive according to them.

“When there is surface water lying motorists should slow down, leave a good distance between them and the car in front and don’t take any unnecessary risks.

“If driving too fast and you hit a large area of surface water this could cause your vehicle to aqua-plane which in turn could cause the vehicle to leave the road with the potential for serious or fatal injuries.”

 

POLICE are appealing for information after a refuse bin was set on fire outside Aberlour Child Care Trust in Park Terrace, Stirling .
The incident took place some time between 7pm Friday October 7 and 8.30am on Monday October 10 when a large bin was set alight.
Constable Anton Stephenson, of the Community Safety Department, said: “Staff returned to work on the Monday morning to find the bin completely destroyed by fire.

“While people may think it is safe, you can never tell what may be in these bins and fire can easily spread to a building or other objects nearby. Anyone who saw anything suspicious or who knows about this crime should contact the police as soon as possible.”


DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY POLICE

A PENSIONER was hauled from her car by a thief after she stopped at traffic lights.

 

GRAFFITTI artists targeted walls at a Spar store in Kersland Road in Stranraer sometime between 10pm on Thursday 13 October and 5.30am hours on Friday 14 October.

 

A MAN has suffered cuts to his face after being attacked in Dalbeattie.

The assault happened following an argument between two groups near the Town Hall at around 11.30pm on Friday 14 October 2011.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have been in this area at the time and who may have witnessed this incident.

 

A GREY Ford Mondeo car which was parked at the car park in Whitehills Avenue in Lochmaben had a window smashed sometime overnight Friday 14/Saturday 15 October 2011.

 

A WINDOW at the Lochmaben Library in the High Street has been smashed sometime overnight Friday 14/Saturday 15 October 29011.

 

A GARDEN wall in Gowan Brae in Lowthertown, Eastriggs has been struck and damaged by a vehicle which failed to stop after the crash sometime between 7pm on Friday 14 October and 10am on Saturday 15 October 2011.

 

A SUBSTANTIAL amount of cash has been stolen in a break-in to a house in Church Street in Dumfries sometime between 12pm  and 5.30pm on Saturday 15 October 2011.

 

A SILVER Mitsubishi Charisma car which was parked in Arthur Street in Newton Stewart was struck and damaged by a vehicle which failed to stop after the crash sometime between 10.30am and 1pm on Friday 14 October 2011.

 

ARED VW Golf car was the subject of an attempted theft while it was parked in Surrone Road in Gretna sometime between 9pm on Saturday 15 October and 10am on Sunday 16 October.

 

FIFE POLICE

POLICE in Dunfermline are appealing for help in tracing the movements of a man found unconscious in the early hours of Saturday morning.


A RARE motor vehicle has been stolen from a disabled man in Fife.


CALLOUS thieves have stolen a memorial bench dedicated to a much-loved father of two from his graveside.


TWO men have been arrested following weekend football hate crimes.

GRAMPIAN POLICE

THOUSANDS of pounds of damage has been caused to two cars after they were targeted by vandals.

The paint on both vehicles was damaged while they were parked on Forestside Drive, Banchory, Aberdeenshire.

The incident happened sometime during the evening of Friday 14 October 2011 and early morning of Saturday 15 October 2011.

 

A MAN has been seriously injured following an assault in Stonehaven.

The victim was attacked at around 2am on Sunday in the town’s Market Square.

Officers are keen to speak to a male who was seen in the area around the time of the incident. He is described as being aged 15 or 16, average height and build, with dirty blond hair. He was wearing jeans/dark cream coloured chinos and a black or dark coloured top.

 

THIEVES threatened supermarket staff with a bladed weapon before making off with thousands of pounds in cash.

LOTHIAN AND BORDERS POLICE

A PEDESTRIAN has been seriously injured after being hit by a van in the early hours of Sunday morning.

NORTHERN CONSTABULARY

POLICE are searching for a 12-year-old boy who failed to return home last night.

Reece Taylor, who lives in the Benula Road area of Inverness is described as 5ft 6in, of slim build, with dark, short hair.

He may be wearing jeans, Adidas trainers with a green sole, a red hoodie and a blue waterproof jacket.

Due to his age Police are naturally concerned and are appealing to the public to report any sightings of Reece.

RETAILERS are being warned to be on their guard after a shop in Golspie which uses the “UKASH” pre-payment collection network (worked over a phone line) was the victim of a fraud.

A telephone caller to the shop line purported to be a friend of the owner and befriended and reassured the staff member.

The caller then went on to persuade the shop assistant to generate two UKASH vouchers to the value of £250 each and pass the unique voucher numbers.

When the shop assistant tried to take payment for the vouchers the caller hung up and by that time had appropriated the money without payment. These codes can be then used immediately on internet sites.

Anyone with any information or knowledge of this ‘scam’ is asked to contact Northern Constabulary on 01463 715555.

 

Police are concerned for the welfare of Natasha Hunter

A TEENAGER has gone missing from her Inverness home.

Natasha Hunter, 15, is also known as Tasha and lives in the Oldtown Road area of the city.
Due to her age Police are naturally concerned for her wellbeing given her age and would appeal to anyone who has information regarding her whereabouts to get in touch.

She is described as being of medium build with short, bobbed brown hair. She may be wearing skinny blue jeans, a white top with a flower motif, denim jacket and boots.

 

A LARGE quantity of metal has been stolen from an Invergordon industrial estate.

Police believe the theft at the Cromarty Firth Industrial Estate took place between 9.45pm on Friday, October 14 and 8.30am on Suturday, October 15.


STRATHCLYDE POLICE

POLICE are appealing for information and witnesses after an 18-year-old man was robbed in the Maryhill area of Glasgow on Wednesday.

Around 12.30pm on Wednesday, the victim got on to the No 40 bus on Old Shettleston Road to make his way to college.

As the bus travelled towards Glasgow City Centre he was berated by two men who were sitting behind him on the top deck.  Further into his journey one of the suspects approached the victim and offered to shake his hand.

As the victim responded, the first suspect grabbed onto his hand and pulled the man towards him.

At the same time the second suspect came up behind the man and held what is believed to be a bladed item against his neck.  The first suspect then rummaged through the victims pockets and took his wallet and smart phone.

The two suspects accompanied by a female, then started to get off the bus which was now in Maryhill Road.  An elderly man who was also on the bus and who had seen the robbery take place intervened and the first suspect dropped the man’s wallet as they got off the bus.

The victim was uninjured but has obviously been left very shaken by the robbery.

The victim then got off the bus near to Tesco in Maryhill Road and made way his back home when he contacted police.

The first suspect who grabbed the man’s hand is described as white, Scottish, aged around 18 years-old, 5’7” tall with a medium build and very short dark brown hair described as being a “crew cut” style.  He also had bruising under his eyes.  At the time of the robbery he was wearing a plain black hooded top, navy jogging trousers and brown working boots.

The second suspect is also white, Scottish, around 6’0” tall, aged in his early 20’s.  He has short light brown hair and had a large scar down the right side of his face.  At the time of the robbery he was wearing a green and grey/white top.

The female who was with the two suspects is described as white, Scottish,   5’6” tall, in her early 20’s with dark hair which was tied back and has a thin build.  She was wearing a long black jacket.

Detective Constable Neville Oliver from Mayhill CID said: “This young man was bullied and robbed while going about his business and making his way to college. We are checking CCTV and carrying out enquiries to identify the suspects.  I would like to appeal to the elderly gentleman who valiantly came to the young man’s aid to contact us as he may have vital information which can help our inquiry.”

 

POLICE are investigating a suspicious fire in Stevenston in the early hours of Saturday 15 October 2011.

Around 2.30am, officers received a report of a fire in Carment Drive, Stevenston. Emergency services attended and found the front doors of two, first- floor neighbouring flats alight.

One woman, aged 31, jumped from a first-floor window and another woman, aged 34, was rescued by the Fire Service

Both woman were taken to hospital as a precaution but were not seriously injured.

Enquiries are continuing to establish the exact cause of the fire, however it does appear to be suspicious and detectives in Saltcoats have launched an investigation.

Detective Sergeant Alan Sommerville from Saltcoats CID said: “Fortunately, the two women who were in the property managed to get out without serious injury. At the moment we can find no motive for this wilful fireraising. I am appealing to anyone who was in the Carment Drive area of Stevenston in the early hours of Saturday morning and who may have seen someone hanging around or seen or heard anything in any way suspicious to get in touch as soon as possible.”

 

A 19-year-old man has been robbed of his mobile phone in Clydebank.

Around 3.20pm on Friday, the 19-year-old was standing at a bus stop on Kilbowie Road, Clydebank, when he was approached by a man who threatened him and robbed him of his mobile phone.

The suspect then walked off down Kilbowie Road.

The victim then stopped a passer-by and contacted emergency services.

The suspect is described as a white male with a local accent and aged 20-30 years old.  He is approximately 5ft 10inches tall and has a medium build.  At the time of the robbery he was wearing a light blue jumper and jeans.  He was also carrying a black jacket.

Speaking from Dumbarton Police Office Detective Constable Vicky Barrett said: “This young man was minding his own business when he was robbed of his mobile phone and the incident has understandably left him very upset.

“I would like to appeal to three people who were walking together near where the robbery happened and whom I believe saw the incident take place to contact me as they may be able to help the inquiry.

“The two young men and a young woman are all aged in their early 20s.

“One man is around 6ft tall with a stocky build and he was wearing a light-grey hooded top and black trousers.

“The second man is around 5ft 8inches tall with a medium build and short brown hair.  He was wearing a dark jacket with a grey, hooded top underneath and black denims.

The woman is around 5ft 8inches tall with blonde hair.  She was wearing a short black jacket and light, stonewashed blue denims and she was carrying a white handbag.”

 

TAYSIDE POLICE

POLICE are appealing for any persons with information regarding an attempted break in to the house in Broomlee Road, Dundee about 01:30 am on Sunday 16 October 2011.

The person responsible tried to force entry to the front door.

Residents are asked to be vigilant and report anything suspicious to the police.

 

SIX cars parked in Aberdour Place in Broughty Ferry were vandalised sometime overnight between Saturday 15 October and Sunday 16 October. ]

The rear windscreen wipers on each car were broken.
OFFICERS in Brechin are investigating the theft of a BMX bike from the garden of a house in Park View.

The silver BMX bike was taken sometime around 4.30pm on Sunday 16 October.

A WHITE Ford Transit van parked in Dundee’s Victoria Street was broken into sometime between 7.30pm on Friday 14 October and 12.30pm on Saturday 15 October.

A yellow Dewalt drill was stolen along with bits and screws.

OFFICERS are investigating a break-in to a flat in Dundee’s Provost Road.

Sometime between 10pm on Friday 14 October and 11am on Saturday 15 October the property was targeted and a Sony Playstation 3 games console, a black I-Pod MP3 player, and the homeowner’s wallet containing credit and debit cards were stolen.
