Police seek driver parked near robbery

Police believe the driver may have seen the robber enter or exit Ladbrokes

THE driver of a Renault Megane could hold the key to a robbery, police believe.

A Ladbrokes store in Edinburgh was robbed of thousands of pounds at around 9.45pm on October 22.

The suspect threatened staff before making off and police believe he may have been seen by the driver parked outside Cameo Theatre.

The suspect is is described as white, around 30-years-old, 5ft 6ins tall and of medium to stocky build.

He was wearing a black hooded waist-length waterproof jacket, blue jeans and white trainers.

A police spokesman said: “The Renault Megane was seen doing a u-turn and heading towards the Bruntsfield area after spending approximately 15 minutes parked outside the Cameo Theatre.

“It is possible that the driver may have noticed the suspect either entering or leaving Ladbrokes, and we are keen to speak to them in order to establish whether this is the case.

“We would appeal directly to the driver to make contact with the police immediately, similarly we would urge anyone else who was in the area at the time, who noticed the suspect, to come forward.”
