BREAK-INS at six homes in a Borders town have sparked a police appeal.

The homes were all in the Ettrick area of Selkirk

Officers believe these crimes are all linked and urge anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

A police spokesman said: “The homeowners have been left distraught after returning to find their properties had been broken into and their possessions stolen.

“To transport these stolen goods in one day would have required a vehicle and so anyone who saw a vehicle in the area should contact police immediately.

“Similarly, anyone with information that can help identify those responsible for these incidents should also get in touch.”

“Such incidents of theft are prioritised by the Police and members of the public are urged to contact Police immediately with a full description of any unknown persons or any vehicles they have seen”.

Anyone with any information can contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or the charity Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
