Appeal for witnessws following car vandalism

Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses after a number of cars were vandalised in Whitburn at the weekend.

About 11.45pm on Friday (April 6) two men wearing dark clothing were seen walking through a number of streets with wooden fence posts, and hitting parked vehicles.

In total around 12 vehicles in Flemington Gardens, Allan Road, West Main Street and Gardner Crescent had windscreens and windows smashed which will cost around £2500 to repair.

A police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have seen these two men acting suspiciously either late on Friday night or Saturday morning to contact us.

“This mindless vandalism has left the vehicle owners with a hefty repair bill, so we are keen to trace whoever is responsible as a matter of urgency.”

Anyone with any information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or the charity Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
