Thieves target mourners

CALLOUS thieves stole a handbag from a car while the owner attended a funeral just feet away.

The bag was taken from a silver Ford focus as mourners gathered in St Michael’s Graveyard, Dumfries.

At around 2.15pm, a man was seen to break into the vehicle.

He made off with the handbag, which contained a small amount of cash, a phone and other personal items.

The man is described as being about 6’ 1” tall, slim, athletic build, clean shaven, and was wearing a grey coloured hooded top, jeans and trainers.

He was seen to run off along Craigs Road.
