Police on the hunt for shed thieves in Bathgate

HOMEOWNERS are being urged to take extra precautions when locking up their sheds and garages following a series of break-ins in Bathgate,West Lothian.

During a six hour period between 5am and 12pm on May 22, six separate incidents of break-ins to sheds and garages were reported to the police from addresses inBridgendPark, Whiteside,Falside Crescentand Inchcross. Thieves appear to be targeting low to mid value items, for instance, car pressure washers.

Sergeant Steven Stewart of Lothian and Borders and Police stated: “We would encourage homeowners to ensure their sheds and garages are properly locked and secured when not in use, and to consult the home security section of our website for more information or advice on this.

“Investigations are ongoing to trace the people responsible, and at the moment we are keeping an open mind as to whether or not these incidents are linked.”
