Prestigious Scots artist to unveil new print

A PRESTIGIOUS Scots artist will be unveiling a new print later this month.

Frances Walker, from Fife, won the 2014 Churchill Award for art and will be exhibiting her new work at the inaugural Glasgow Contemporary Art Fair.

Fife-born Frances was the third recipient of the Churchill, following in the footsteps of David Hockney and John Byrne.

She is a founding member of Peacock Printmakers, based in Aberdeen, and has continued to produce work at the venue for the past four decades

Her work featured heavily in the organisation’s 40th anniversary last November.

Born in Kirkcaldy in 1930, Frances studied at Edinburgh College of Art before taking up a post as visiting teacher of art for the Hebrides.

This experience engendered in her a life-long love of wild and desolate places and since then she has chosen to depict the most remote landscapes, her compositions usually based on coastal reaches, craggy rocks and deserted beaches.

Opening times for the Glasgow Contemporary Art Fair are as follows:
Friday 24th April 6 pm – 9 pm
Saturday 25th April 9.30 am – 5.30 pm
Sunday 26th April 10 am – 5 pm.

The Friday will be a Preview Evening, with tickets priced at £14 for two people, offering guests live music, courtesy of the Ritz Trio, and complimentary champagne.

Entrance fees on the Saturday and Sunday will be just £3 per adult with children under 15 free of charge. For further information, including a full list of exhibitors, visit www.gcaf.co.uk
