Raith Rovers manager Ray McKinnon has snapped up former Aberdeen attacker Mitch Megginson and completed the make-up of his managerial team.

The new Stark’s Park boss arrived on his own from Brechin City last month but has now appointed Glebe Park assistant Grant Johnson and coach Darren Taylor to his backroom staff.

On the pitch, McKinnon has added Megginson to his recruitment of Dundee United youngster Darren Petrie and Alloa Athletic midfielder Ryan McCord.

Megginson has spent the last two years with Dumbarton but had previously made 34 appearances during four years with the Aberdeen first-team and fits the ‘young and hungry’ profile McKinnon is seeking to add to his squad.

With a centre-half expected to be confirmed this week, he said: “We want players who have a point to prove. Mitch has given up a part-time wage and a job working in a bank to come here and that proves his determination and hunger to do well.

“I’m really delighted to get him. He’s a terrific young player, he’s only 22, he’s really quick and he scores goals. He’s athletic and he’ll give us balance on the left side, which is very important, and he’ll benefit from training full-time again.”
