NAC Breda insist Hibs have not been in touch about Joey Suk

NAC Breda insist there has been no official contact from Hibs despite reports in Holland linking the Leith outfit with midfielder Joey Suk.

Suk, who has two-years left to run on his current contract with the Yellow Army, has been told he is free to find a new club after struggling for game time last season as Breda were relegated from the Dutch top-flight.

Reports suggested that Hibs had tabled a bid to try and land the 25-year-old, however, NAC insist they are unaware of any interest in the player from Scotland.

A club spokesperson said: “There has been no contact between the two clubs regarding Joey Suk.”

Suk, who has also played for Beerschot and Go Ahead Eagles, was linked with English side Burton Albion in May but has returned to Breda for pre-season training.

Hibs head coach Alan Stubbs is keen to add reinforcements to his midfield after captain Liam Craig and Scott Robertson departed Easter Road earlier this summer.

Speaking about his desire to bolster his squad, Stubbs, who has recruited new signings James Keatings and Danny Carmichael and snapped up Martin Boyle on a permanent deal, said: “We’re still short of a central midfield player and then it will be trying to make the squad as competitive as possible.

“We’ll have a number of trialists, that can play in a number of positions, coming in to see if we can make the squad even stronger.”
