Hibs head coach Alan Stubbs can’t wait to pit his wits against Premiership leaders Aberdeen

Hibs head coach Alan Stubbs insists he cannot wait to test his side against the Premiership leaders when Aberdeen visit tomorrow night.

Stubbs admits that the League Cup third round tie is such a big match for his team that he was worried the players would take their eye off the ball in the weekend’s 1-0 Championship victory at Livingston.

Stanton will be available for a loan move away from Easter Road
The Dons are top of the Premiership having won their first eight games.

The Dons racked up their eighth straight win of a flawless start to the Premiership campaign with a convincing 3-1 win at Hibs’ city rivals Hearts on Sunday and Stubbs is looking forward to seeing how his team fare against Derek McInnes’ team.

Stubbs said: “It’s a great for us and I’m really looking forward to it.

“I was a bit wary of the Aberdeen tie taking the focus at the weekend but I can’t wait for it now.

“It’s a chance for us to rub shoulders with the team that is – at this moment in time – the top team.

“I’m sure it will be an entertaining game. I have a lot of time for Derek, he’s a good guy and it’s no coincidence he is getting the rewards at this moment in time.

“He’s got a good team but I’m ready to have a go at a good team.”
