Former Rangers and Dundee United striker Jon Daly has been unveiled as the new Under-20s coach at Hearts.

The 32-year-old will join the Tynecastle outfit once his short-term deal at Raith Rovers comes to an end in January.

It is not clear at this stage whether Daly will also be registered as a player with Premiership side.

Daly will replace Jack Ross after the club announced last month that he had vacated the position.

Hearts director of football Craig Levein said: “I’m delighted that Jon has agreed to join the club in January and take up thepost of Under 20s coach.

“Jon is somebody that both myself and Robbie know from our respective times at Dundee United and it’s an exciting appointment.

“We believe he has all the attributes to develop into a great coach and we look forward to welcoming him in January.”

The Irishman was brought to Dundee United by Levein in 2007 and also played alongside current Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson at Tannadice during the 2011/12 campaign.

Following two years at Rangers, Daly signed for Raith in August despite interest from Hibs.

The experienced forward has made 11 appearances for the Kirkcaldy outfit, scoring his only goal in the recent 2-1 defeat to Hibs.
