Scotland Under-21 internationalist Donald Love looks set to make his second successive appearance for Manchester United after being named in the 18-man squad for tonight’s Europa League clash at Midtjylland.
Love, who made his debut as a substitute in Saturday’s defeat at Sunderland, is one of only five recognised defenders that made the journey to Denmark.
And with United including 17-year-old Regan Poole among the travelling party, Love could even be handed his full debut by United manger Louis van Gaal.
Despite the weekend’s defeat at the Stadium of Light, van Gaal was pleased with Rochdale-born Love’s contribution after he replaced the injured Matteo Darmian in the 37th minute.
Speaking on Monday, Scottish FA performance director and ex-Man United forward Brian McClair was thrilled with the 21-year-old’s promotion to the first team.
McClair said: “I think it’s a great sign of progress that he was given a chance by the manager to show what he can do.”
