Virgin trains sarnie at centre of robbery claim by Bannatyne’s daughter

A DAUGHTER of Duncan Bannatyne has posted a picture of her £4 Virgin Trains cheese and tomato sandwich and claimed she was robbed.

The picture from Evie Bannatyne shows a single, thin slice of plastic-looking cheese lost amid two large slices of bread and accompanied by four slices of tomato minus the core.

Care worker Evie posted the snap on Twitter on Wednesday, commenting: ““@VirginTrains have just robbed me there like! £4 for this?!”

The shocking sarnie cost £4 – despite barely covering the bread.

She included her dad – a veteran of numerous, bitter Twitter disputes – in the tweet.

He replied: “Send it back. They sell the worst food in the world. Terrible, full of chemicals as well.”

Other social media followers quickly joined in, including Shirley Salander who wrote: “That is not allowed to be called a sandwich, not in any sense of the world.”

Dan Adams said: “I wouldn’t give my dog that. Is Richard Branson skint now or something?”

Peta Baxter added: “That is disgraceful.”

Evie’s dad has previously criticised Virgin trains.

Virgin Trains did not immediately respond to the tweet.

Duncan Bannatyne has previously criticised the train company.

Last year he took to social media to unleash his fury over train delays after getting stuck for hours on Christmas Eve.

After being delayed for several hours, he sent a message to their customer services via Twitter asking when they would be given a cup of tea.

He later revealed that he had “brought his own food” on board after “seeing ingredients in Virgin food”.

On another occasion he complained that there was no hot food left on the Virgins Trains service he was using.

After the company replied asking whether he had managed to get a hold of some sandwiches, he wrote: “No, sandwiches contain gluten. I will just starve. Thanks.”
