Falkirk striker Kevin O’Hara faces a race against time to be ready for the crunch Championship clash at Hibs next month after picking up an ankle injury on Scotland Under-19 duty.

The 17-year-old came off the bench in last Wednesday’s 2-0 defeat to Belgium in Croatia but limped off after only ten minutes.

peterhoustonO’Hara, who has made 13 appearances this term, was forced to fly home early after having the injury examined by the Scotland medical staff.

Falkirk are awaiting the results of a scan but Bairns manager Peter Houston reckons the injury could rule the teenager out of their next three matches against Queen of the South, St Mirren and Hibs.

The April 12 trip to Easter Road has become even more important in the race for second after the Bairns failed to build on their six point lead over Hibs following a weekend defeat to Livingston.

Houston said: “We’ve had him scanned after he had to come home from Croatia.

“He went on in the 72nd minute and had to come off ten minutes later.

“He was flown home because he wasn’t going to be fit for the other two games over there.

“We had him scanned and we’re awaiting the results. Already, Kevin is saying it’s improving but it could be a couple of weeks that he’s out.”
