Raith Rovers determined to defy expectations in play-offs, insists midfielder Ross Callachan

ROSS Callachan insists Raith Rovers are desperate to prove they should not be written off as play-off also-rans as they set their sights on the Premiership.

There is a feeling at Stark’s Park that they are being ignored as the focus falls on the battle between Hibernian and today’s opponents Falkirk to land the Championship runners-up spot and then the right to face the top-flight’s 11th-placed side.

The Kirkcaldy club’s success in finishing a probable fourth has taken many by surprise but they believe they can shock again in the play-offs as they eye a determined promotion push.

After an incredible run of just one defeat and nine wins in their last 13 games, Callachan is convinced Rovers have the ability to prevail in the play-offs as they seek to lay down a marker against the Bairns this evening.

The midfielder said: “We need to keep this amazing run going to keep the momentum into the play-offs.

“Football can be a crazy game and anything can happen.

“We never expected to be here at the start of the season so we are going into these games with nothing to lose.

“They are already writing us off.

“But the boys are flying and there is a great atmosphere in the dressing-room just now. We feel like we are never going to get beaten.”
