Video shows mass brawl inside city cemetery just metres from police HQ

VIDEO shows a mass brawl inside a city graveyard and just yards from a police HQ in which a woman repeatedly bangs the head of another female off paving stones.

The incident unfolded on Aberdeen’s most famous shopping thoroughfare, Union Street, last week.

The 60-second-clip begins with two girls dragging a third girl down to the ground on the busy road as buses and cars continue to drive by.

Spectators can then be heard saying “look at the state of her” while she’s being kicked.

At the same time, a second fight can be seen erupting in the background, at the entrance of St Nicholas’ graveyard.

A man is filmed throwing another to the ground and repeatedly kicking him before rolling around on the ground.

During the whole fight, a third man, who appears to be with the brawlers, is shown pottering aimlessly about. In the background, a non-combatant can be seen sitting nonchalantly on a park bench.

Tyler Tait from Aberdeen, who captured the fight, then runs across the road to get a better view of the two separate fights as they continue alongside each other.

One girl is then captured brutally pulling another girl by the hair and continuously slamming her head against the path.

The fight soon comes to a halt after a brave passerby passerby pull the girls apart while police sirens can be heard in the background.

The vicious fight occured was just minutes away from the headquarters of Police Scotland’s Aberdeen city division.

Posting the video on Facebook, Tyler wrote: “Just went to McDonald’s and this happened. #Junkiescraps.”

The video was viewed over 100,000 times with hundreds of outraged viewers taking to the post to comment.

Vicky Allan said: “What an absolute disgrace. Well done to the young guy in the red for splitting them up.”

Maria Ann Rae wrote: “Glad I don’t live there anymore. Aberdeen used to a great place to live in, a nice friendly place, nice people and now these people.

“Just take the good name of Aberdeen to the sh** house and make the good people of Aberdeen miserable. They should be ashamed of themselves.”

Sheila Brownstone said: “Where’s the police when we need them they must be on CCTV. No respect that they are fighting in the graveyard.”

George Widdle Robertson wrote: “Society is f* up. They might be junkies but end of day I’d rather be helping someone from getting there head diced off the ground than take a video and try get stupid Facebook likes for it.”

But Chris Giggie said: “Love all the keyboard warriors on here saying they would have stopped it.

“No you wouldn’t have, don’t try take the moral high ground when all you would have done is watched it too.

“Junkies are junkies no one forced them to choose that life. They are nothing but scum.”

Police confirmed a 43-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault. He was convicted and admonished at the city’s sheriff court the following day.

The women involved in the fight have not be identified yet.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Officers were called to reports of a disturbance in the Union Street area at around 4.30pm on Thursday, May 12, 2016. The Scottish Ambulance Service also attended, however no one was seriously injured.

“Officers are following positive lines of enquiry in relation to others involved in the incident. Anyone with information should contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 to remain anonymous.”
