Hearts could be set for a double fitness boost ahead of Wednesday’s Europa League clash against FC Infonet, with Robbie Muirhead and Morgaro Gomis due to return to training this morning.
Muirhead, 20, is keen to make his mark after joining the club from Dundee United in the close season but was denied a competitive debut for the capital club last Thursday after picking up a thigh knock.
Experienced midfielder Gomis was farmed out on loan to Motherwell for the second half of season, however head coach Robbie Neilson has indicated he remains part of his plans this term.
He featured in pre-season friendlies against Welsh outfit TNS and Aberdeen – but saw his hopes of facing Infonet dashed when he picked up a back injury.
However, both players could be in contention for the second leg in Estonia if they emerge unscathed from a workout at Hearts’ Riccarton training base this morning.
Neilson revealed: “Robbie [Muirhead] had a little thigh problem so we didn’t play him against Cowdenbeath [on Saturday]. He will train on Monday and then it is a case of seeing how he is for Wednesday.
“Morgaro [Gomis] suffered a back spasm, so that kept him out.
“Again, he will train with us at the start of the week and we will see how he is looking.”
Even without the duo, Hearts managed to claim a pivotal 2-1 victory last Thursday, with a Prince Buaben penalty and an own goal by Andrei Kalimullin sending the Jambos to Tallinn with an advantage.
