Raith Rovers hope for speedy Jason Thomson recovery following knee complaint

RAITH ROVERS hope influential defender Jason Thomson will return to action against Dumbarton on Saturday after boss Gary Locke admitted the Fifers toiled without their club captain.

The 29-year-old suffered a knee injury during training last Friday and was forced to sit out Rovers’ 3-1 defeat against surprise Championship leaders Queen of the South.

With Locke revealing the former Hearts kid is struggling with tendonitis, Raith’s medical staff will observe the player closely towards the tail end of this week as he fights to prove his fitness.

Raith Rovers Stadium“I was really disappointed with that [injury],” said Locke. “Jason was pencilled in to start against Queen of the South at the weekend.

“I think you can see that it is a big blow for us when he is missing, but he has a slight knee problem – a bit of tendonitis.

“He just wasn’t fit and we are a bit short in that area. It would be good if we can get Jason back for [Dumbarton] because he is a big influence on our team.”
