Woman riding a coffin through Edinburgh

A BIZARRE image of a woman riding a coffin down a city centre street has surfaced on social media.

The picture shows a woman straddling casket, which is placed on wheels, whilst being towed by two men, one of whom has a wacky bleached blond hairstyle.

Hilariously, the woman also appears to have rested several shopping bags on the casket as well.

The scene was captured on Leith Walk, in central Edinburgh, on Sunday at 4.30pm.

Local Fraser Nelson captured the incident whilst travelling whilst travelling home from work, and said the woman appeared to be enjoying herself.

He said: “‘I was driving down Leith Walk on the way home from work when I saw two men rolling a casket down the street with a woman sitting on top of it, it looked like she was enjoying the lift swinging her legs back and forth and laughing.”

The 29-year old added: “It’s not something you see everyday so I pulled over and took a quick photo of it, I thought it was maybe some sort of prank or one of their mates just had a heavy weekend.

“They were getting a lot of funny looks and laughter from the pubs and restaurants. They just kept on rolling down the street though.”

Social media users reacted to the image with a mixture of shock and delight.

Natasha Grant said: “Just when you think you’ve seen it all in Leith.”

Marc Nisbet quipped: “I wonder who they were picking up.”
