“The Unbelievable Truth”, which aired last night, featured the Boyle telling jokes

about The Beatles and Ono for panelists to determine if they were truth or lies.

On the show, Boyle said: “Lennon and McCartney’s drug experiments continued until they found the exact dose of LSD that made them think that their wives were talented.

“Indeed the band only grew long hair and beards as a way of trying to shake off Yoko Ono.”

The Scots funnyman even ventured into the sensitive subject of Lennon’s death in 1980.

He said: “Lennon’s murder was wrongly mourned as a tragedy because he actually exceeded the average life expectancy of a Liverpudlian in the 1980’s ”
