Video shows delivery man’s heroic battle with letterbox

A DELIVERY man’s heroic battle to force a parcel through a letterbox has been captured on video.

Amazed neighbours watched the determined courier fight for about three minutes to squeeze the package through the gap.

They switched their camera on shortly after the man “reshaped” the parcel and resumed his wrestling bout with the letterbox for almost a minute before finally succeeding.

Although the delivery was made to the property in Alness in the Scottish Highlands, it remains unclear whether whatever inside was still fit for purpose.

The caption on the video states: “When the parcel guy’s adamant your letter box is big enough.”

The film was taken on November 11 by a neighbour who has asked not to be identified.

He said: “The company is unknown as the vehicle was an unmarked blue Vauxhall Zafira people carrier.

“That video was his second attempt at trying to get the parcel in the letter box.

“He was at it for about 3 to 4 minutes, he tried the first time and realised it wasn’t going to happen.

“He then pulled the parcel back out and completely reshaped the package and tried again.”

The video comes a day after a photo of a Hermes delivery driver was caught with her car so full of parcels that her side passenger window was comepletely blocked.

The Hermes worker had almost every spare inch of the car crammed with items, leaving space only for the driver.

The picture was taken on November 3 in a street in Loanhead, Midlothian.

Hermes said it was investigating the case, which will increase concern that under-pressure delivery drivers are putting public safety at risk as Christmas approaches.

Parcels of every shape and size have been wedged in to the car, blocking two out of the three mirrors.

The photo clearly shows the front passenger seat of the car crushed with parcels making the side window blocked and even part of the windscreen obscured.

There is growing concern that under-pressure delivery drivers are putting public safety at risk as Christmas approaches.

Both incidents come just weeks before the huge “Black-Friday” sales and the rush of Christmas deliveries, which caused havoc up and down the country last year.

Early this year a Rob Davies, 48, from Wrexham in North Wales, was stunned to find an Amazon delivery driver had left a parcel of cooking oil and toys for his children perched on top of rotting food.
