Wee Jay meets Sir Alex at Lisbon celebrations

CELTIC superfan Jay Beatty celebrated the club’s 1967 European Cup success in style – by meeting football legend Sir Alex Ferguson.

The pair were snapped together at an event held at the SSE Hydro to celebrate the Hoops’ historic victory in Lisbon.

‘Wee Jay’ captured the hearts of the Parkhead faithful when Hoops hero Georgios Samaras picked him up and carried him round the pitch as the team celebrated their league title in 2014.

He’s now an ambassador for the Celtic Foundation and met former Manchester United boss Fergie – a former Rangers player – whilst promoting the charity’s work.

Jay’s dad Martin, uploaded a photograph of the pair together during the event at the Hydro with the caption: “Hail Hail Alex.”

The picture, which has already been liked and shared over 400 times, shows a smiling Sir Alex standing next to Jay as they both proudly hold a large cut out of the Celtic Foundation logo.

Facebook users have been quick to react to the photo.

Angela Thomson wrote: “Great photo.”

Tim Webb commented: “Two legends.”

Whilst Rich McNab added: “An absolute legend…and Fergie.”

The ‘Celebrate ‘67’ event was held at the SSE Hydro last night (THU) and attended by stars such as actor Martin Compston, Rod Stewart and Susan Boyle.

It marked 50 years to the day since the Lisbon Lions beat Inter Milan 2-1 to become the first British side to life the European Cup.
