Moment Celtic-daft family launch into ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ at wedding reception

AMAZING video captured the moment a Celtic-daft groom got his dream wedding reception – as his family members launched into “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and waved personalised green and white scarves.

When groom Paul Stakim and bride Hannah began planning their wedding, the Celtic-daft carpenter knew he would have to try and weave in as many tributes to his favourite team as possible.

The couple had 60 personalised scarves made for their wedding guests, a Celtic themed wedding cake and the groom even wore his Celtic scarf for their first dance.

And, the 30-year-old even mentioned the Hoops in his speech – welcoming everyone to the couples “double treble celebration party”.

Paul and Hannah were married at Dunboyne Castle, County Meath, Ireland, on Saturday 26 May the spine-tingling clip of their family launching into “You’ll Never Walk Alone” has already been viewed over 15,000 times.

The couple met backpacking in Australia but have now moved to England to start their lives together – although Paul still holds a Celtic season ticket and plans to travel up once or twice a month.

The minute long clip begins with a packed dance floor full of Paul and Hannah’s 150 wedding guests at the bride’s hometown venue.

Everyone on the floor had their arms raised above their heads, waving their green and white scarves in the air and singing along loudly to the football anthem – usually reserved for the beginning of matches.

The wedding guests are clearly enjoying the moment, as they shared holding the scarves and sang along loudly while dancing with each other.

The couple had personalised scarves made especially for the day

Family members can even be see raising their glasses high and belting out the lyrics to Gerry and the Pacemakers 1963 hit.

The clip went down a storm on social media. Gerry Mc said: “Class mate.”

Marg M Marg added: “Brilliant video was even better live.”

Jo Stakim commented: “So amazing being a part of this.”

While Michaela ‘bird’ Stakim said: “Wedding of the century.”

All of the green and white scarves being held up in the video were personalised with “Paul and Hannah Stakim’s Wedding” on one end and “Dunboyne Castle, Co. Meath, 26/05/2018” on the other.

Paul said the idea for the wedding came to him as far back as 2015 when the couple got engaged in Perth, Australia. He said: “Being a huge Celtic fan from right back then I had a vision I wanted of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ on the dance floor to a sea of green and white with all the scarves in the air.

“The idea actually went down better than I thought. I had them all in a basket next to the dance floor ready for people to grab later in the night but people grabbed them the second they walked into the room to sit down for speeches and dinner.

“I couldn’t believe it when I peeked in and the basket was empty and everyone had them round their necks at the dinner tables.

The reception joins in for “You’ll Never Walk Alone”

“It worked out brilliantly. When me and Hannah were introduced to the room we walked in to ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’ by Depeche Mode, with everyone jumping around singing and dancing with the Celtic scarfs in the air and swinging them above their heads.”

Though Hannah’s family from Ireland aren’t Celtic fans, they are all big football fans and were jumping and singing to the Celtic songs with the rest of the guests.

Not only did Paul have everybody singing along to the famous ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ while holding up the scarves, he said he managed to fit in the Celtic theme wherever else he could.

He added: “I worked it into my speech by introducing everyone to our double treble celebration party. We had a cake table covered in Celtic cupcakes and the cake topper of the groom had a Celtic shirt on and Celtic scarf.

“I even had a Celtic scarf round my neck for the first dance. Not many people can say that.”
