Bizarre moment cyclist crashes at high speed into back of stationary car at roundabout

BIZARRE video shows a cyclist crash at high speed into the back of an estate car waiting to enter a roundabout.

The man on the bike crumples to the road as the couple in the car filming the incident exclaim: “My god!”

Stuart Cunningham, 32, from Goole, East Yorkshire, was coming off the M180 near Scunthorpe on Saturday when he caught the baffling collision.

He uploaded the clip to Facebook captioned with: “Excuse the sound quality. Glad this cyclist had a helmet on. Could have been a lot worse without.”

Offering a possible explanation, Stuart added: “Think the estate hesitated and the cyclist didn’t expect him to not go.”

The video shows Stuart manoeuvring onto the roundabout with a silver estate car patiently waiting to join the traffic.

A cyclist can be seen moving at speed on the A18 behind the car.

The cyclist’s front wheel then smashes into the back of the silver estate car and then bounces off the rear window and sliding down the back of the car onto the ground.

Stuart can be heard saying: “Oh, s***.” While Stuart’s fiance, Kirsty Newham, 32, can be heard saying: “Oh my god.”

Whatever the explanation of the accident, there was little sympathy online for the cyclist.

One viewer wrote: “Hahahaha what a plonker. I If only the car he hit had a rear facing dash cam.”

One posted: “Was it just me or did anyone else laugh?”

Another user wrote: “Pmsl.”

Speaking today Stuart, said: I was shocked. I thought he was going to go through the boot of the car. The bike looked wrecked.

“We went around the roundabout and pulled in near the big Tesco. The cyclist was up off the floor, lucky he had a helmet on.

He added: “The bloke would likely have been a goner if it was a wagon or 4×4. He was going that quick.”
