VIDEO Hilarious moment pensioner is taught football chant by Rangers-supporting daughter in law

HILARIOUS footage shows a Rangers fan trying to teach her elderly mother-in-law how to sing a fans’ chant.

But pensioner Audrey Grenfell struggles with the terrace tribute to Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos.

The chant is a reworking of the Bob Marley classic Buffalo Soldier.
Audrey, from Larkhall, South Lanarkshire, is supposed to sing: “He’s a buffalo soldier from the heart of Colombia.” Instead, Audrey sings that Morelos is from “Columbio”.

The video has been widely shared on Rangers fan pages across social media, with the Rangers star even replying to the video.

The short clip shows professional boxer Adele Craw, 34, also from Larkhall, filming Audrey who is sat in the back seat of the car.

Adele starts singing: “He’s a buffalo soldier, from the heart of Colombia.”

Audrey then repeats this but instead of saying Colombia says “Columbio.”

Audrey, whose husband John has been a lifelong Rangers fan, is also seen with a pen in her hand composing along to the song.

After letting out a little giggle, Adele then sings the next part of the song which goes: “He knows what he means to us, he’s a goal-scoring genius.”
Audrey manages to replicate that word-for-word.

They then go back to the chorus during which Audrey changes “Alfredo” to “Alfredio”, to hilarity in the car.

Adele posted the video to social media with the caption: “Trying to get as many hits, my wee mam in law trying to sing Alfredo, lol brilliant.”

The post even attracted some attention from the striker himself who a member of the group was able to contact and ask him what he thought.

Caroleann Dickov said Morelos replied with: “Aquí es donde decirles gracias a ellos. Solo digo que les encanta o gracias.” Loosely translated, this means

Alfredo loved the clip and thanked the girls for making it.

The post also had several other comments applauding Audrey.

Ian Jackson Senior wrote: “Brilliant.”

Jackie Finlay Fotheringham commented: “Brilliant I love it.”

Rachel Brown said: “Awww love it, so cute.”

Tyler Smith said: “Legend.”

Sandy Allan Frances commented: “ Wahahaha well done, keep practising you’ll get there.”

Speaking today, Adele, who has been a season ticket holder at Ibrox for the last 16 years, said she can’t believe how the video has taken off.

She said: “We were on our way shopping and I started singing the song and she wanted to join in so I thought, I’m going to record it.

“She just wanted to join in on the fun.

“It would be good if he came back himself, I wouldn’t mind a singed top off him.”

She also hopes to be releasing another song with her mum in law later this month.

“There could be a song out for boxing day, we’ll wait and see.”
