Gibson Kerr announces 25% boost in staff numbers

LAW firm Gibson Kerr has announced a series of new appointments, boosting staff numbers by 25%.

Gibson Kerr first began operating in India Street in 1990

The expansion follows the firm’s acquisition of two Edinburgh legal firms
in 2016, Marwicks and Grange, Solicitors & Estate Agents.

The new solicitors are Caroline MacBeath and Sue Anne MacAulay, who have joined the family law team, and Katie Marshall who will work in the personal law department.

Ms MacBeth joins from Legal Services Agency, and Ms MacAuley was recruited from Drummond Miller. Ms Marshall is hired from Somerville & Russell.

Gibson Kerr operates from two city centre locations and specialises in personal law, family law and property.

It is led by its three partners Scott and Fiona Rasmusen, and Lindsay Maclean.

Scott said: “The mergers with Marwicks and Grange Solicitors & Estate Agents, and supported by a digital marketing drive, has seen a significant surge in new business.

“The new burst of appointments means we can continue to offer a highly affordable, high quality service to clients – and provide the grounding to underpin the further growth of the firm.”

Gibson Kerr first began operating in India Street in 1990, although the business dates back over 100 years. It was acquired by Partners Scott and Fiona Rasmusen in 2005

Fiona Rasmuen is head of family law, while Scott heads the property team. Lindsay Maclean, who joined the firm in 2007, is head of personal law..
