“Glad I’m still alive!” Driver posts video of moment he comes within a second of “obliteration”

A MOTORIST has posted terrifying footage of the moment he came within a second of being “obliterated” by a suspected joyrider.

Andrew Jordan’s dashcam captured the car hurtling across a junction in a quiet residential street at an estimated 70mph.

The vehicle is going so fast its underside hits the road surface, creating a shower of sparks.

Andrew, who recorded the footage in Greenwich, London, on Monday night, reckons he would have been killed if he had been a second further down the road.

One stunned viewer of the clip wrote that they could not “fathom how fast it must have been going”.

Analysis of the clip suggests the front of the car crosses the road in 0.4 seconds, covering – according to Google Maps – a distance of approximately 40ft. That suggests a speed in the region of 68mph – in a 20mph zone.

Andrew uploaded the clip to social media with the caption: “Glad I’m still alive! Happened on Bostall Lane after Co-op shop. Abbey Wood, tonight at 10.15pm!”

The car suddenly appears on the left and races through the give way sign, causing sparks and dust to fly as its underside hits the road surface.

Andrew was just inches from a scary collision which could have proved fatal

Speaking today, Andrew said: “It was going so fast I saw the wheels lift off the road like something from a movie.

“I was completely stunned. If I’d been a second further on I would have been obliterated.

“The driver continued to speed down the residential street with cars parked either side with only just enough room to get speed through. Completely gobsmacked!”

Online, Bridget Donovan wrote: “Wow that scared me just watching it.”

The speeding car can be seen raised from the ground

Sue Watson commented: “S***. As a driver I felt my heart leap. Cannot even fathom how fast it must have been going.”

Bruce Jamieson said: “Zero consideration for anything. Their day will come and hopefully only at their own expense.”

Alan Wakeling wrote: “Absolute dreadful, so glad you never got hit.”

Andrew, 40, from London, is married with two young daughters.

Andrew said it was like “something from a movie”.

He said: “My first thought was for my two young daughters who would grow up without their father thanks to such selfish actions.

“And how would my wife manage financially without me?”

Andrew is also deaf, meaning that any sound of a roaring engine from the speeding car would have been hindered which added to the astonishing ordeal.
