SCOTTISH Dance Theatre will return to our stages this spring with a new Double Bill to be performed at four Scottish dates.
The show will see the dancers debut a performance of The Circle, created by renowned choreographer Emanuel Gat, as well as the critically acclaimed RITUALIA, choreographed by Colette Sadler.
The performances begin at the company’s base of Dundee Rep Theatre on the 3rd and 4th of May before travelling to Edinburgh’s Traverse Theatre on the 24th and 25th May.
The Circle emerges from Scottish Dance Theatre as a piece that tells the story of 12 individuals and focusing on the dancers’ relationship with each other.
Emanuel Gat said: “The Circle celebrates each dancer as an individual and their own unique dance language whilst also telling the story of this collective and the relationships contained within it.
“I’m excited for audiences to see these dancers in a new light and for the work to breathe as it feeds from their energy.”
It is the first time that the company has worked with award winning, Israeli-born, France-based choreographer Emanuel Gat and the first time since 2011 UK audiences will have an opportunity to see his work.
The second part of the Double Bill, RITUALIA, was choreographed by Berlin-based Scottish choreographer Colette Sadler and takes Bronislava Nijinska’s feminist cultural landmark Les Noces and transforms it by creating a fictional post-gender future.
RITUALIA has been selected to be part of the UK Dance Showcase at Surf The Wave 2019 presenting world class dance to industry programmers and promoters.
