Amazon delivery man filmed destroying letterbox rather than ring bell then drives off denying blame

A BURLY Amazon driver has been caught on CCTV destroying a letterbox with an oversize parcel because he couldn’t be bothered to ring the bell.

The determined delivery man uses all his strength to ram the package through the letterbox and then walks off.

But moments later the furious customer emerges from the property, throwing the door open and revealing the damage.

Shariff Rahim-Bux says the delivery man flatly denied causing the damage and then drove off.

Shariff, 28, uploaded the video to Twitter last week captioned with: “Fantastic at AmazonUK Prime service.

“Driver forced parcel through letterbox, breaking it then denied and took off when confronted. Is this the prime service I pay for? Luckily all on tape, fire him.”

Shariff, from Cranford, Hounslow, London, was awaiting delivery of an £18 pair of wireless headphones.

The Home Office civil servant now faces a considerably bigger bill to get his letterbox rebuilt.

Speaking today Shariff said: “I have been an amazon prime customer for years. I have experienced delivery ‘issues’ but this is property damage. A hit and run job.

“I place the blame completely on Amazon for hiring terrible drivers. It feels like to me he had X amount of deliveries to make before being done for the day so if he could shove the parcel through the letter box then so be it.”

Shariff said that when he emerged from his home the delivery man denied causing the damage but said he would take a look.

He drove off and Shariff assumed he was turning his vehicle around. But the driver did not return.

Knowing there was only one way out of the residential area, Shariff waited for at least 10 minutes to get a snap of the vehicle leaving the area.

Amazon tweeted Shariff apologising for the incident and told him to provide more details so they could look into it.

This is not the first time Amazon delivery drivers have been accused of wrecking letterboxes.

Last month, a customer was in “disbelief” after claiming an Amazon delivery driver broke his letterbox, while delivering a book.

Noel Hodson, 44, was shocked to find the letterbox had been “ripped” off the door when he returned to his home in Tewkesbury, Gloucesteshire.

Amazon said they were working closely with the delivery provider to resolve the matter.
