Edinburgh International Film Festival announces special screening of Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 4

Edinburgh International Film Festival have announced that they will have a special pre-release showing of the upcoming Disney Pixar film Toy Story 4.

Directed by Josh Cooley (Riley’s First Date?), and produced by Jonas Rivera (Inside Out, Up) and Mark Nielsen (associate producer of Inside Out), Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 4 is released in UK cinemas on 21st June 2019.

However, with thanks to the EIFF, it can be viewed on 16th June, five days before the official release and three days before their annual festival begins.

In previous years the EIFF has hosted Festival gala screenings of Disney Pixar’s Academy Award®-winning WALL•E, Toy Story 3, Inside Out and Finding Dory during the Festival but is delighted this year to start Festival celebrations early with this screening!

Mark Adams, EIFF Artistic Director said: “We love and value our long-standing relationship with Disney and Pixar, so it is a real thrill that we can show this animated delight to film fans just before the festival starts.

The usual protagonists return for the fourth installment of the Toy Story franchise with Woody (voiced as always by Tom Hanks) confident as ever about his place in the world and taking care of his owner, Bonnie.

When Bonnie’s beloved new craft-project-turned-toy, Forky (Tony Hale), declares himself as “trash” and not a toy, Woody takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy.

Bonnie takes the whole gang on her family’s road trip excursion, Woody, Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) and the gang take an unexpected detour that includes a reunion with his long-lost friend Bo Peep (Annie Potts).

After years of being on her own, Bo’s adventurous spirit and life on the road belie her delicate porcelain exterior.

As Woody and Bo realise they’re worlds apart when it comes to life as a toy, they soon come to find that’s the least of their worries.

Tickets for the screening are now on sale and can be purchased here: https://www.edfilmfest.org.uk/2019/toy-story-4

The full programme for the 73rd edition of the EIFF, which runs from 19 -30 June, will be announced on 29 May 2019.
