SHOCKING images show a caravan that was towed along a busy motorway for 20 miles – despite having a completely blown tyre.
Images show the caravan’s back tyre out while it was dragged along the M40 in Warwickshire in the West Midlands.
The owner of the caravan was spotted driving all the way down the M42 from junction 7 with a tyre blow out before continuing onto the M40.
It then got off at junction 15 before finally stopping on Banbury Road where cops spotted it at the side of the road – 20 miles from where it started.
Upon checking the caravan police found that the suspension strut had worn in half.
The police reported the driver to court for the offences regarding the 79/80 Royale Touranger caravan.
OPU Warwickshire posted the shocking images onto their Facebook page yesterday captioned: “The owner of this caravan drove all the way down the M42 from junction seven with a tyre blow out and then continued onto the M40. It then got off at junction 15.
“Finally stopping on Banbury Road. This is where OPU found it. Upon checking the caravan we found that the suspension strut had worn in half.
“Driver has reported to court for the offences. JD-CD”
Dozens of social media users commented on the post, shocked at the owner’s irresponsible antics.
Lewis Jones said: “You’d unhitch it and leave it at the side of the road surely. What a s*** heap.”
Adem Çevik said: “Looks like something the old Top Gear trio would drive for fun!”
Phillip Dubberley added: “Shame, it’s a classic caravan and ruined now.”
