GARY LINEKER has accused someone of “taking the p***” after a crisp selection in his dressing room was filled with an array of brands – but not one packet of Walkers.
The well-known face of Walkers crisps was bemused after only being given rival brands in his BBC dressing room yesterday.
The 60-year-old was presenting coverage of the Euro 2020 clash between Netherlands and Austria when he spotted the wind-up.
Lineker, who has worked with Walkers since 1994, tweeted: “Someone’s taking the p*** with this lot in my dressing room. Think I’ll pass.”
The tweet was accompanied by a picture of Lineker’s dressing room crisp selection
Lined up on a glass shelf were 20 packets of crisps including Hula Hoops, Sun Bites, Kettle Chips and McCoys, but no Walkers.
The tweet now has over 40,000 likes, with followers getting in touch to suggest the crisps on offer are better than the brand Lineker works with.
@RedWhite_Gooner replied: “All of those elite level crisps. Walkers are bottom tier.”
@MarkBoatwright said: “Not a chance you’ll pass on them bacon sizzlers, you’d be a fool to.”
@CurtisNolan7 commented: “They knew you’d try and sh** the bags of Walkers Gary.”
@AdrianFarrar added: “You pass? Come on now. First time for everything hehehe.
“P. S. Other potato based fried snacks are available, maybe your preferred brand didn’t stay on the shelf as they were walkers…”
