Scottish distillery launches a competition to celebrate World Rum Day

A SCOTTISH distillery has announced a competition to celebrate World Rum Brand with a huge supply of rum up for grabs.

North Point Distillery have teamed up with online spirits marketplace Caskshare for the new competition which will celebrate World Rum Day on July 10.

The winner will be awarded an entire cask of small batch North Point Pilot rum, the cask contains approximately 72 bottles of rum with an estimated value of £2,400.

The signature North Point Pioneer Rum is inspired by experiences of local fishermen, known as ‘North Point Pilots’ who travelled halfway around the world in the 1700s.

Stories of the pilots and the ships bringing back barrels of rum and spices inspired Struan Mackie and Alex MacDonald, the founders of North Point Distillery.

North Point Distillery specialises in making authentic Scottish spirits and making them in interesting ways, the brand use sustainable sugarcane and molasses from the Caribbean.

Caskshare are an innovative brand who look for new ways to appeal to a wider demographic and allows spirit lovers to reserve bottles by the cask.

David Nicol, founder of Caskshare, said: “It is always interesting to work with brands with a story. We would like to let more people get to know such an inspiring distillery.”

Those who purchase a share of rum from the Caskshare website between July 7 and 31 can be in with the chance of winning the prize, entrants must like, share and follow across any social media platform with both brands and tag two friends to be complete their submission.
