Bed and…bathroom? Bizarre property comes on market with toilet at the foot of the bed

A BIZARRE property has gone on the market that has a toilet at the foot of the master bedroom.

The house on Benton Street in Hadleigh, Suffolk, has been catching the attention of baffled property browsers for its quirky addition after it was listed last week.

The semi-detached property has a price tag of £289,500, and contains two bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen and a living room.

The end-of-terrace home looks pleasant on the outside with a cheery yellow exterior and an exposed brick rear, looking onto a well-kept and luscious garden.

The rooms inside are equally impressive, with an industrial feel to the interior decor.

However, property hunters have spotted a unique feature facing out onto the bed in one of the bedrooms.

In a unique twist on the classic en-suite bathroom, a toilet has been fitted against the wall next to an olive-green sink and bathroom cabinet.

A curved shower has also been installed facing towards the bed meaning potential buyers won’t have far to walk to get clean.

The property was shared on a Reddit thread, with the caption having a fun dig at the strange set-up, reading: “Excuse me darling, I just need to go to the loo.”

A humoured viewer replied to the images with a simple comment: “Ewww!”

Estate agents Hizzy property have listed the house on Rightmove but failed to mention the bedroom and bathroom mixed room in their description.

They state: “A very smart and charming period cottage, exceptionally well presented with a beautiful garden.

“The property has been remodelled, updated and enhanced exceptionally well to make the most of today’s modern way of living yet still retaining the ageless charm and character of a period home.

“The cottage includes a lovely generous sized main reception room with plenty of natural light, and space for a dining table and chairs.

“The superb kitchen which overlooks the garden is fitted in a stylish theme and includes built-in appliances.

“There is a lobby to the rear of the property which has a stable door leading out into the garden and a door into the modern and contemporary bathroom suite.

“Upstairs there are two bedrooms with the main bedroom offering a very impressive vaulted ceiling of nearly 12ft in height.

“For those who enjoy walking, the open countryside is literally only a few minutes walk away and the thriving High street is also only about a 10 minute walk away.”

The period cottage also features wrought iron radiators throughout and an exposed brick chimney.

Whilst sinks and tubs in bedrooms are not a rarity – particularly in Victorian-era homes – toilets are a little more unusual.

As the innovation of indoor plumbing became more accessible in the Victorian age, it became a customary addition to homes.

If a house was originally built without indoor plumbing, it was one of the first renovation features on a homeowner’s list.
