How Can I Claim Compensation For My Diesel Car?

Have you ever wondered how can I claim compensation for my diesel car? You’ve probably seen advertisements for these cars, but did you know that the emissions they put out are a lie? This flaw in diesel cars was discovered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). If you bought a diesel car, and became aware of the problem after purchase, you may be eligible for compensation. If you had known about the flaw before buying, you might have avoided the car altogether. But even if you would have bought the car, you probably paid more for it than you should have. You would have also spent more money than you would have paid on fuel.

Evidence has been found against many car brands, some of which I discuss below. However, other brands including BMW, Vauxhall, Ford, Renault and Seat, may also be guilty of cheating on emissions testing.

Volkswagen

The VW group own many car brands, including Audi and Volkswagen. The Environmental Protection Agency recently discovered a flaw in some VW diesel cars. These vehicles were emitting fake carbon emissions, making them eligible for compensation. Owners of eligible diesel cars may be entitled to compensation. Many would not have bought the car if they had known about the flaw. VW has already settled a claim with some car owners for an average of over £2,100 per claim.

Mercedes

Recently consumers have been able to claim compensation for the high emissions levels produced by diesel vehicles from Mercedes. The company is being sued for installing illegal emission cheating devices in its diesel vehicles. According to the lawsuit, this illegal activity caused consumers to overpay for their vehicles. Consumers have also been able to claim compensation because they were misled into believing that their car was “clean” when it actually had high emissions.

Hyundai

Hyundai has allegedly installed illegal cheat devices in diesel cars, and you may be eligible for compensation. It must have been registered between 2009 and 2020. The German transport authority says that the company may have used defeat devices to alter the emissions of the car during testing. These devices prevent damage to the engine and prolong the life of emission components. Thousands of UK drivers have potentially been cheated by Hyundai.

Kia

You may have a right to make a compensation claim if your diesel car is at fault for the increase in air pollution. Between 2007 and 2018, diesel vehicles polluted 40 times more than they were supposed to. This was mainly due to cheat devices that were installed in the vehicles. Many Kia diesel cars bought recently have a higher emissions level than stated, meaning you may be eligible for compensation.

FIAT

If you own a FIAT diesel car, you may be entitled to compensation for misleading emissions information. This case has been filed against the company by the law firm PGMBM, which claims that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles misled both customers and government authorities about the true emissions of diesel. This misrepresentation has resulted in high emissions and has damaged the reputation of the Italian automaker.

FIAT Chrysler Automobiles, the company that makes brands such as Jeep and Alfa Romeo as well as other diesel-powered cars, has agreed to pay more than $650 million to settle claims of illegal emissions in the US. They were found to have used illegal defeat device technology to make their cars emit fewer emissions while on the road. This sum includes fines to the government and compensation to car owners. In addition to the monetary compensation, Fiat is also settling lawsuits in other states. If you own a diesel-powered car made by Fiat, you may be entitled to up to compensation.

Jeep, also manufactured by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, was tested by the consumer group Which? and in March 2017 found to produce 1.74 g/km NOx compared to the 2009 European emission standards Euro 5 legal limit of 0.18 g/km.
