Scots Agricultural Society announces appointment of new Chairman

THE ROYAL Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS) has announced the appointment of a new Chairman. 

Jim Warnock, of Gartfinnan Farm, Clackmannanshire, has been appointed Chairman for a two-year term.

The 61-year-old, who is Managing Director of JDWAgri Ltd., has served as a Stirling area Director at RHASS since 2010, before being appointed Chairman Designate in 2020.

During his time at the Society, Jim has served as Steward for Cattle, Sheep, Light Horse and Heavy Horse before being selected as Chief Steward of the Main Ring, a position he held for five years.

Past Chairman of Stirling Young Farmers and Past Chairman and President of Stirling Agricultural Society, Jim has been an active member of RHET Forth Valley delivering classroom talks, farm visits and other RHET Events. 

Commenting on his appointment, Jim said: “I am honoured to hold the position of Chairman at RHASS following what has been a very challenging time.  

“My management style is that of collaboration and I look forward to working closely with fellow directors, members, Royal Highland Show exhibitors and the wider sector as we embark on a new chapter for the Society post-Covid.  

“We are aware that there is much to be done to build on the successes while working to meet the challenges of running one of the UK’s largest agricultural shows.  

“I am looking forward to meeting our stakeholders and listening to their feedback so we can work together to make the Royal Highland Show even better, alongside ensuring the Society continues to carry out its charitable remit to protect and promote the interests of rural Scotland.”
