Samson Donick Offers His top Tips for Rock Climbing in Switzerland

Samson Donick recently offered his top tips for rock climbing in Switzerland.

Switzerland is a rock climbing oasis. Samson Donick is a Swiss-born rock climber who knows his home country is one of the top places in the world for all levels of climbers. There’s a reason Switzerland’s nickname is the “Playground of Europe.”

Donick recently offered his top tips for rock climbing in Switzerland.

Come Prepared

Donick explained that countless people travel to Switzerland from around the globe in search of a rock climbing adventure. However, many of them do not come prepared for the amount of fitness the sport requires.

Rock climbing requires a large amount of energy, effort, and strength. Donick suggests strength and flexibility training before embarking on a Swiss rock climbing adventure. Practicing on a rock climbing wall is also one of the best ways to train the same muscles you’ll need on an outdoor climbing adventure.

Go With a Guide

Samson Donick is an avid rock climber with years of experience climbing in his home country of Switzerland. He suggests that anyone who visits starts by climbing with a local rock climbing expert. They know the routes and all the safety protocols necessary to ensure you have an exciting and safe adventure.

Practice Technique

Donick explained that proper technique is essential for a successful climb. Climbers must be equally as smart as they are strong.

He described that many climbers think the sport is entirely in the arms when it really requires an equivalent amount of leg strength. Using the legs helps the body move forward and takes the pressure off the arms, so their strength can be used for pulling. Rock climbing is a dynamic sport that requires a fit body and a sharp mind.

Samson Donick and Where to Climb in Switzerland

Donick stated that Switzerland is full of epic places to climb. Matterhorn is one of the most famous mountains on the continent and is a bucket-list destination for many climbers. However, Donick stated that climbers must be in optimal physical shape to climb there.

Other iconic places to climb in Switzerland include the popular Chironico area and Jungfrau. Chironico is home to more than 2,000 climbing routes for all skill levels, even routes suitable for kids. Jungfrau is more advanced and is praised for its unrivaled views of the Swiss countryside. This 3,000-meter-tall peak is often called the “Top of Europe.”
