Arrest made over £8000 gallery theft

Five paintings worth £8000 were taken in July

A MAN has been arrested after artworks worth £8,000 were stolen in Edinburgh.

The five pieces were taken from the Demarco gallery in July.

The paintings have yet to be recovered and returned to their owner, Richard Demarco.

Mr Demarco has been a continued leading figure in the development of the Edinburgh Festival. His gallery was founded in 1966.

The 24-year-old man is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today (wed).
