The chopper was called out twice in blizzard conditions

NINE walkers have been rescued after becoming stranded on a Scottish mountain.

The group of three adults and six teenagers were stranded on Ben MacDui following overnight snowfall.

They had contacted a friend by phone to seek assistance at around 10 am this morning.

A mountain rescue team based at Braemar was mobilised, alongside a Royal navy helicopter.

The group were located at Derry Cairngorm.

The helicopter airlifted four of the group to Braemar before returning for the remaining walkers.
