A YOUNG footy fan’s hilarious sign language exchange with his gran has been captured on camera as he promised to “tell the referee he’s s**t”.

Ciaran Walker was at the Newcastle United game with grandmother Yvonne earlier this month and was left disgruntled by the match official’s performance.

Turning to his gran , the 12-year-old – who is deaf – made clear his feelings on the ref, but failed to realise that his entire hilarious spiel was caught on the stadium cameras.

Hilarious footage shows Ciaran in a Newcastle United strip as he sits with his family in the stadium.

Behind Ciaran is Yvonne, who leans in closely to listen to Ciaran as the youngster occasionally glances at the game before turning back to her

He then begins to hilariously sign his unhappiness with the referee as he uses British Sign Language to say: “At half time, I’m going to tell the referee he’s s**t”.

The tickled grandmother then turns to look an apparent relative as the pair chuckle before Yvonne retorts back: “No, you’re not.”

However, a determined Ciaran then turns back to Yvonne and informs her via sign language: “I am. Just watch.”

Ciaran’s mother Sue took to social media last week to share the hilarious footage, writing: “I have not stopped laughing about this moment since the weekend.

“If you know BSL you know why this is so funny. TNT [Sports] maybe needs to get the interpreters in for next time.

“What can I say? Ciaran’s passionate about his team.”

The post received over 7,900 likes and dozens of comments as many were left in stitches at Ciaran’s rude gestures.

One person wrote: “My daughter is deaf, so we knew what he signed, and we were howling.”

Another said: “Hilarious. Cameraman knew he was capturing a young passionate fan – just had no clue. I need to know though, did the ref get the deserved telling off?”]

A third commented: “No clue on understanding British Sign Language but I know grandma’s reaction.

“That lad was not happy with someone’s performance on the pitch and knows how to express it.”

A fourth added: “As if this was on camera. Ciaran knows the score.”

Thankfully for the Ciaran – and the referee, Newcastle United won the game and Ciaran chose to leave him to enjoy the celebrations.
