Inverness manager Richie Foran admits he is relishing the chance to lift his team off the Premiership basement in Friday’s televised visit of Rangers.

Caley came away with a hard-earned point in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Hearts, just a week after shipping six goals in a 6-0 Scottish Cup mauling at the hands of Celtic.

Foran branded some of his players ‘bottlers’ following a recent 3-0 loss to Hamilton, but since then the Highland outfit have drawn league games against Dundee and Hearts.

The weekend’s result in Edinburgh has seen Caley close the gap on Accies at the bottom to two points and the Irishman is targeting a first win in 15 Premiership outings when manageress Rangers make the trip north.

Foran, speaking to Caley Jags TV, said: “It’s closed the gap and we’re a point closer to the other teams around us, and on Friday night we can get off the bottom and I can’t wait for it.

“We were looking for the old Inverness back and that could change our season, that performance.

“It was huge point, a valuable point, a deserved point. It was a battling performance, a fighting performance and it was an Inverness performance.”

A daunting run of games also sees Caley host Celtic on March 1 and Foran insists the club’s supporters can play their part in easing there relegation fears.

He added: “They could easily have turned on us weeks and months ago but they showed they’re right behind us and they helped us out in a game like that. They’re the 12th man.”
