Hearts midfielder Arnaud Djoum admits he plans to quit Tynecastle this summer and join one of Europe’s top five leagues.

The 28-year-old still has two years left on his contract with the Gorgie outfit but admits he sees his long-term future away from Hearts.

French top-flight club Bordeaux have been linked with the Cameroon Africa Cup of Nations winner, while English Premier League sides are also said to be interested.

Djoum, who is representing his country at the Confederations Cup, said: “I was trained in Belgium before going to the Netherlands where I learned a lot from playing very technical football.

“I had a few adventures and I hope to join one of the five major championships after the Confederations Cup.”

Djoum joined Hearts from Polish side Lech Poznan in September in 2015 and admits the prospect of a switch to France is appealing.

He added: “I discussed it with (Andre-Frank) Zambo Anguissa who plays at Marseille.

“He told me that the French championship was really good and I’m really interested. It’s a goal for me.”
