Deadly fire at green camp site

A MAN has died after a fire broke out at an environmental activist’s camp site in Midlothian.
 
Police and fire fighters were called to the campsite at Bilston Glen, near Loanhead, at around 3.30am today (Mon).
 
The man is believed to have been in his 20s and a woman, also in her 20s, presented herself to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh but was later referred to the specialist burns unit at St John’s Hospital in Livingston for the injuries she sustained.
 
A joint investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the fire, but a police spokeswoman said it did not appear to be suspicious.
